This introductory textbook provides an accessible overview of the key contributions to translation theory. Munday explores each theory chapter-by-chapter and tests the different approaches by applying them to texts. The texts discussed are taken from a broad range of languages - English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Punjabi, Portuguese and Spanish - and English translations are provided. Международный день переводчика - профессиональный праздник устных и письменных переводчиков. Отмечается 30 сентября (день смерти в 419 или 420 Святого Иеронима, который осуществил перевод Библии (Вульгата) на латинский язык и который традиционно считается покровителем переводчиков). Учрежден Международной федерацией переводчиков (FIT) в 1991. Иероним Стидонекий, один из четырех латинских отцов Церкви, был человеком могучего интеллекта и огненного темперамента. Он много путешествовал и в молодости совершил паломничество в Святую Землю. Позже он удалился на четыре года в Халкидскую пустыню, где жил отшельником-аскетом. (
