International Practices in Pancreatic Surgery

The book describes in great detail general and specific technical aspects of the standard resection procedures of the pancreas. Each surgical step during the pancreatic operation is precisely outlined and accompanied by drawings and photographs.
The main chapters on pancreatic carcinoma, chronic and acute pancreatitis are written by the editors. An international faculty complements the texts by describing their own personal techniques. This concept offers the greatest possible overview of the techniques used by experienced surgeons.

Description:
Clinical and radiologic examinations cannot reliably distinguish benign or inflammatory pancreatic disease from carcinoma. The increased use of pancreatic fine needle aspiration along with advances in imaging techniques and the introduction of endoscopic ultrasound guidance have led to significantly better detection and recognition of pancreatic masses

Pancreatic Cancer (M.D. Anderson Solid Tumor Oncology Series)

Since the previous M.D. Anderson Solid Tumor Oncology Series publication on pancreatic cancer, there have been major advances in our understanding of molecular events which underlie pancreatic cancer development, both in the sporadic and inherited forms. We have seen the development of the first mouse models that accurately recapitulate features of the human disease. Several landmark clinical trials in both resectable and metastatic pancreatic cancer have been completed, raising new questions about the standard of care in this disease. Finally, the era of targeted biologic therapies has engendered new excitement about the prospects of more rapid progress in understanding and successfully treating this dreadful disease. Therefore, it is an appropriate time to review these important advances and outline areas of controversy and question in pancreatic cancer biology and treatment.
