The course draws together the students' previous language learning. Each unit develops the interrelated skills of reading, writing, listening and speaking. "Reading" - texts are authentic in many cases and are suitable for this level. "Writing" - always derives out of previous work and is related to a model students can refer to. "Listening" - tasks are graded for this level. Break points are indicated in the Teacher's book so that the teacher can stop the tape at regular intervals and ask questions.

Therefore, if an accepted correct usage disagrees with the grammar rule, it is the rule that is to be ignored; and this fact leaves the problem to future grammarians.
