STEM Project-Based Learning

This second edition of Project-Based Learning (PBL) presents an original approach to Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) centric PBL. We define STEM PBL as an "ill-defined task with a well-defined outcome," which is consistent with our engineering design philosophy and the accountability highlighted in a standards-based environment. This model emphasizes a backward design that is initiated by well-defined outcomes, tied to local, state, or national standard that provide teachers with a framework guiding students' design, solving, or completion of ill-defined tasks.

Planning for Learning: Collaborative Approaches to Lesson Design and ReviewPlanning for Learning: Collaborative Approaches to Lesson Design and Review

This book represents the next step in the critical role that lesson planning plays in effective teaching. The authors examine practices from many different areas of education in the U.S. and around the world to create an approach to lesson planning and evaluation that will work in today's diverse school settings. The heart of the book demonstrates collaborative lesson planning for teachers at particular career phases-pre-service, novice, and experienced.

Using Wikis for Online Collaboration

How can online instructors and course designers' instruction harness the popular Web 2.0 tool, the wiki, for successful collaboration and learning outcomes? This book focuses on using wikis in the active learning processes that are the hallmark of collaborative learning and constructivism. It provides both the pedagogical background and practical guidelines, tools, and processes for accomplishing these goals with special emphasis on wikis and other collaborative design tools. This book supports the effective design and delivery of online courses through the integration of collaborative writing and design activities.

Instructional Design: The ADDIE ApproachInstructional Design: The ADDIE Approach

The Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) process is used to introduce an approach to instruction design that has a proven record of success. Instructional Design: The ADDIE Approach is intended to serve as an overview of the ADDIE concept. The primary rationale for this book is to respond to the need for an instruction design primer that addresses the current proliferation of complex educational development models, particularly non-traditional approaches to learning, multimedia development and online learning environments.

Design in Educational Technology - Design Thinking, Design Process, and the Design StudioDesign in Educational Technology - Design Thinking, Design Process, and the Design Studio

This book is the result of a research symposium sponsored by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology [AECT]. The fifteen chapters were developed by leaders in the field and represent the most updated and cutting edge methodology in the areas of instructional design and instructional technology. The broad concepts of design, design thinking, the design process, and the design studio, are identified and they form the framework of the book.
