Digital Tools in Urban Schools demonstrates significant ways in which high school teachers in the complex educational setting of an urban public high school in northern California extended their own professional learning to revitalize learning in their classrooms. Through a novel research collaboration between a university and this public school, these teachers were supported and guided in developing the skills necessary to take greater advantage of new media and new information sources to increase student learning while making connections to their relevant experiences and interests.
Promoting Independent Learning in the Primary Classroom
From birth, human beings are striving to make sense of the world. They learn through interaction, modelling first hand experience and independent action. Most children arrive at school with the notion that being independent and having the desire to take responsibility has been seen, in their homes, as a good thing. However, what often happens is that responsibility may be denied them in school and further bids for independence are viewed as negative behaviour.
How to Grow Great Kids - The Good Parents' Guide to Rearing Sociable, Confident and Healthy Children
All parents want their children to have the best start in life. They want them to be healthy, have lots of friends, make the most of their time at school and ultimately lead happy and fulfilled lives. As parents we can't always protect our children from the challenges of the outside world - but there's a lot we can do to help them enter the big wide world as healthy and confident individuals.
This book, which Gustave Glotz was peculiarly well-equipped by all his previous work to write, has a twofold interest: on the one hand it traces, with remarkable erudition, the evolution of Greek institution, brings out their essential characteristics and, to a certain extent, enters into the details of their construction; and, on the other hand, it formulates and suggests the general ideas which such a subject admits of, and leads on to considerations of a sociological bearing. It combines strict realism and explanations of deep insight.

A Short Course in Medical Terminology
This reprint of the first edition of A Short Course in Medical Terminology bears the word Enhanced in its title for good reason. Not only have production glitches, which find their way into every first edition, been corrected, but we have also decided to include a valuable addition to the Student CD-ROM: Stedman's Medical Terminology Flash Cards.
Stedman's Medical Terminology Flash Cards are an easy-to-use educational tool for learning and reinforcing medical terminology. Questions are presented in multiple-choice, spelling-bee, matching, and fill-in-the-blank exercises.
