Modern Individuality in Hegel's Practical Philosophy (Critical Studies in German Idealism, Book 9)

In "Modern Individuality in Hegel s Practical Philosophy," Erzsebet Rozsa aims to reconstruct Hegel s theory of individuality in the light of his idea of modernity. Modern individuality is one of the central topics of Hegel s practical philosophy, discussed systematically in the forms of subjectivity in subjective, objective, and practical spirit. Hegel interpreted modern existence and lifeworld in the context of law, politics, economy, and private life.

Hegel, Deleuze, and the Critique of Representation: Dialectics of Negation and Difference (Suny Series, Intersections: Philosophy and Critical Theory)

Hegel, Deleuze, and the Critique of Representation provides a critical account of the key connections between twentieth-century French philosopher Gilles Deleuze and nineteenth-century German idealist G. W. F. Hegel. While Hegel has been recognized as one of the key targets of Deleuze s philosophical writing, Henry Somers-Hall shows how Deleuze s antipathy to Hegel has its roots in a problem the two thinkers both try to address: getting beyond a philosophy of judgment and the restrictions of Kant s transcendental idealism.

Hegel and Metaphysics: On Logic and Ontology in the System

This international collection of essays from the 2014 Hegel Society of America Meeting addresses three major stances in the decades-long controversy on the topic: Hegel as a full-blooded pre-critical metaphysician; Hegel as a thinker without metaphysics; and Hegel as a neo-Aristotelian metaphysician par excellence. This work successfully overcomes the stalemates between 'analytic' and 'continental', 'anti-metaphysical' and 'metaphysical' Hegel.

Logic and the Limits of Philosophy in Kant and Hegel

This text examines the boundary between philosophy and formal logic in Kant and Hegel. It takes up the particular category of 'quantity' as a point around which to explore Kant's and Hegel's larger architectonic concerns. Analysis of the relation in Kant between quantity in formal logic and in his transcendental logic reveals two complementary but distinct approaches that preserve the boundary between philosophy and formal logic. By contrast, in Hegel's Science of Logic we find both a novel approach to the traditional treatment of quantity in logic, and a reconstruction of the relation of logic to all other determinations of thought.
