New Approaches to European History is an important textbook series, which provides concise but authoritative surveys of
major themes and problems in European history since the Renaissance. Written at a level and length accessible to advanced
school students and undergraduates, each book in the series addresses topics or themes that students of European history
encounter daily: the series embraces both some of the more traditional subjects of study, and those cultural and social issues
to which increasing numbers of school and college courses are devoted. A particular effort is made to consider the wider international
implications of the subject under scrutiny. To aid the student reader, scholarly apparatus and annotation is light, but each work has full supplementary bibliographies and notes for further reading: where appropriate, chronologies, maps, diagrams, and other illustrative material are also provided.

The Death of the West: How Dying Populations and Immigrant Invasions Threaten Our Culture and Civilization is a 2001 book by paleoconservative commentator Patrick J. Buchanan.

The West is Dying. Collapsing birth rates in Europe and the United States, coupled with population explosions in Africa, Asia, and Latin America are set to cause cataclysmic shifts in world power, as unchecked immigration swamps and polarizes every Western society and nation.
The Death of the West details how a civilization, culture, and moral order are passing away and foresees a new world order that has terrifying implications for our freedom, our faith, and the preeminence of American democracy.

His book The Death of the West expressed concern at the declining numbers of non-Hispanic whites in America, arguing that few nations have ever held together without an ethnic majority. In a 2002 speech, he said, "In the next 50 years, the Third World will grow by the equivalent of 30 to 40 new Mexicos. If you go to the end of the century, the white and European population is down to about three percent. This is what I call the death of the West. I see the nations dying when the populations die. I see the civilization dying. It is under attack in our own countries, from our own people."[27] Buchanan believes that if these demographic trends continue, young Americans will spend their golden years in a "third world America", which will reduce the nation to a conglomeration of peoples with nothing in common. He believes this can be credited to the 1965 Immigration Act and the cultural revolution of the 1960s. He also notes that past immigration was European, while 90 percent of new legal immigrants are Asian, African, and Latin American and that they are not "melting and reforming".
