Famous Five - Book 10: Five on a Hike Together

Dick is puzzled when he's woken by a light flashing through his window. Is someone trying to send him a coded message? And when the Famous Five hear of an escaped convict in the area, they are on red alert. The police won't help, so the Five have no choice but to solve the mystery alone.

Five on a Hike Together is a classic example of a world in which four young children and a dog can roam the moors without adult supervision. It would never happen today. When two boys at Julian and Dick's boarding school are awarded a scholarship, the whole school get two extra days tacked onto their weekend to celebrate. This neatly coincides with Anne and George's weekend break, so the four decide to go off on a hike together.
