Olga Bogdashina began championing the recognition of autism when her son, now aged 13, was diagnosed as autistic at age five. Since 1994, she has been the director of the first Day Centre for autistic children in Ukraine where she assessed children, prepared teaching programmes and organised parent support groups. Olga is also the president of the Autism Society of Ukraine. She continues to teach and lecture around the world in workshops and conferences including International Autism Conferences to promote awareness of autism around the world. Olga has published leaflets, articles and two books on autism to promote awareness and find ways to facilitate full inclusion of autistic people into their communities. She is currently working on her MA in education at Sheffield Hallam University.
