Offering a fresh, original view of Native responses to colonialism, this study demonstrates amply that Native struggles against the encroachment of the state go well beyond armed resistance and political strategizing. This book was one of the earlier books I found on the subject of desert survival. As a quick guide to survival issues in North American deserts, this book is alright, but is somewhat outdated and being so short, is also very short on specifics, being more of a list of 'tips' than a complete guide to surviving in the desert. Information on such things as venomous reptiles, heat illnesses, finding water supplies, is very sketchy. The other issue is how to avoid getting into a 'desert survival' situation in the first place, which this book doesn't cover in much detail. If you have any intention of taking any serious desert trips that involve travel away from populated areas, I would instead recommend reading the Ultimate Desert Handbook by Mark Johnson or Desert Survival Skills
