The first volume of Bernhard Ten Brink's work reviewed the history of English literature from the ancient hynmic poetry down to "Piers Plowman's Vision." The first part of the second is devoted to Wycliffe and Chaucer, the influence of the Italian Renaissance, and the earliest English drama.
