George Orwell wrote many essays and political pamphlets, yet most know him for his fable "Animal Farm" and novel "1984". The essays in this enhanced "Bloom's Modern Critical Views" volume offer precise commentary on Orwell's political views, his perspective on totalitarianism, and the forms of realism in his works. It provides an enriching resource for students looking to gain a deeper comprehension of Orwell's relevant themes.
Choosers of the Slain (2006) is a military fiction thriller novel by John Ringo. It is the 3rd book in the Paladin of Shadows series. The adventures of Mike Harmon as the Kildar (lord over the Keldara) continue when he is tasked by a senior US Senator with rescuing the daughter of a powerful political contributor after she is kidnapped and forced into the Eastern European sex trade. The girl's trail leads the Kildar and his militia of Keldara through many seedy places, going deeper and deeper into the Eastern European sex trade, with evidence eventually leading to political figures.
A new depth of political satire, particular of "political admirals and generals", a great and novel space-twisting invasion, more great characters, and Ringo's uniquely visceral battles, all combine to make this book a hit.

Our aim was to find mind-breakingly good science fiction/fantasy stories that other editors had rejected, and release them into the commons for readers to enjoy. My co-editor Leonard writes extensively on our methodology and aims in Appendix A, but the short version is: we did it. Here it is. There isn’t a theme, really, just “what we like.” It turns out that we like political satire and family drama and detective thrillers and fables and fable deconstructions and the mysteries of debugging. It’s all good stuff and we hope you like it.
