As they play video games inside, children miss out on a world of activity just outside their window. Three children decide to stay in and play video games. They close their shutters, saying "It's so boring outside. Nothing ever happens," and miss seeing a mole pop up through the dirt, a rabbit being chased by a dog and hunter, an altercation between a cat and dog, etc. While these events aren't enough in themselves to convince readers to go play outside, the lesson is worthwhile and may get through to some. The pen-and-ink illustrations are detailed and carefully drawn.
