Core Fluency ThesaurusCore Fluency Thesaurus

This is a new kind of thesaurus. Its purpose is to help you achieve a better command of fluency-oriented vocabulary. And it groups together, under headwords, word groups that express meanings similar to, or somewhat similar to, their important meanings.

If you’re trying to achieve a good command of fluency-relevant vocabulary, a conventional thesaurus won’t be of much help — no matter how helpful it may be for other purposes. To achieve a good command of fluency-relevant vocabulary, you need dedicated fluency-oriented vocabulary building books — books that focus on fluency-building vocabulary.

Introduction to the Theory of GroupsIntroduction to the Theory of GroupsAnyone who has studied "abstract algebra" and linear algebra as an undergraduate can understand this book. This edition has been completely revised and reorganized, without however losing any of the clarity of presentation that was the hallmark of the previous editions. The first six chapters provide ample material for a first course: beginning with the basic properties of groups and homomorphisms, topics covered include Lagrange's theorem, the Noether isomorphism theorems, symmetric groups, G-sets, the Sylow theorems, finite Abelian groups, the Krull-Schmidt theorem, solvable and nilpotent groups, and the Jordan-Holder theorem.

According to the national mythology, the United States has long opened its doors to people from across the globe, providing a port in a storm and opportunity for any who seek it. Yet the history of immigration to the United States is far different. Even before the xenophobic reaction against European and Asian immigrants in the late nineteenth century, social and economic interest groups worked to manipulate immigration policy to serve their needs.

Measuring Race and EthnicityMeasuring Race and Ethnicity

Racial and ethnic issues stand at the core of social, political, and economic concerns in an increasingly diverse America. Accordingly, how individuals from the various ethnic groups regard themselves—and others—is a salient focus of research studies across the disciplines. Measuring Race and Ethnicity gathers psychological measures of common phenomena such as racial identity, acculturation, and intra- and intergroup relations enabling researchers to compare concepts across groups and better evaluate differences and disparities.
