Moodle 1.9 Extension Development The author's experience as a Moodle developer enables him to combine a simple, descriptive how-to approach with enthusiastic insights into the rich potential of customizing Moodle according to your needs. The chapters gradually build up your skills and by the end of the book you will be confident enough to customize Moodle on your own. This book is written for technologists who are interested in expanding Moodle's functions through programming, either for their own organizations or to contribute to the open source project. You should be familiar with Moodle's basic technologies

Language and Emotion (Studies in the Social and Cultural Foundations of Language)Language and Emotion (Studies in the Social and Cultural Foundations of Language)

Language is a means we use to communicate feelings; we also reflect emotionally on the language we and others use. James Wilce analyses the signals people use to express emotion, looking at the social, cultural and political functions of emotional language around the world.

Theta Constants, Riemann Surfaces and the Modular Group

Theta Constants, Riemann Surfaces and the Modular Group There are incredibly rich connections between classical analysis and number theory. For instance, analytic number theory contains many examples of asymptotic expressions derived from estimates for analytic functions, such as in the proof of the Prime Number Theorem. In combinatorial number theory, exact formulas for number-theoretic quantities are derived from relations between analytic functions. Elliptic functions, especially theta functions, are an important class of such functions in this context, which had been made clear already in Jacobi's Fundamenta nova.

Theory of Complex Functions

Theory of Complex FunctionsTheory of Complex Functions

The material from function theory, up to the residue calculus, is developed in a lively and vivid style, well motivated throughout by examples and practice exercises. Additionally, there is ample discussion of the historical evolution of the theory, biographical sketches of important contributors, and citations (original language together with English translation) from their classical works. Yet the book is far from being a mere history of function theory. Even experts will find here few new or long forgotten gems, like Eisenstein's novel approach to the circular functions.
