Beyond Inflation Targeting: Assessing the Impacts and Policy Alternatives
`Inflation targeting (IT) has become the sacred cow of central banking. But its suitability to developing nations remains contested. The contributors to this volume perform the valuable service of sketching out plausible, more development-friendly alternatives. They are to be commended in particular for avoiding a one-size-fits-all approach and paying close attention to the needs of specific countries. Their proposals range from relatively minor tinkering in IT to comprehensive overhaul.
This volume contains selected refereed papers based on lectures presented at the ´;Fifth International Fez Conference on Commutative Algebra and Applications´ that was held in Fez, Morocco in June 2008. The volume represents new trends and areas of classical research within the field, with contributions from many different countries. The countries of North Africa, apart from Morocco, have supported the re-launch of pan-Africanism in the form of the African Union and its growing institutionalisation. But the countries of North Africa share also an Arab identity and are members of the Arab League.
Nordic Knitting: Thirty-One Patterns in the Scandinavian Tradition
This collection of over 30 hand-knitted patterns are all from Scandinavian countries. The book is in two parts - looking at the historical development of knitting in the following islands and countries: Faroe Islands, Aland Islands, Sweden, Iceland, Finland, Norway, Greenland and Denmark. The second section of the book shows the reader how to knit each design and how to adapt the patterns to varying shapes and styles of sweater. The important elements are the traditional motifs incorporated into the designs.
