Patophysiology of Disease - An Introduction to Clinical Medicine 2nd ED.Patophysiology of Disease - An Introduction to Clinical Medicine 2nd ED.

The book does an excellent job of integrating basic science concepts with clinical medicine. Each of the organ system chapters reviews the normal anatomy, physiology and histology, then follows with the pathophysiology, clinical findings, and pathology of the more commonly encountered disorders. Additionally there are chapters on genetic diseases, immune diseases and neoplasia which similarly link basic science principles with clinical disease entities. Each chapter contains periodic "checkpoint" questions which guide the reader to the most important concepts. Each chapter also ends with several case studies with questions and discussions, similar to those encountered on board examinations.

Inequalities: A Mathematical Olympiad ApproachInequalities: A Mathematical Olympiad Approach

This book presents classical inequalities and specific inequalities which are particularly useful for attacking and solving optimization problems. Most of the examples, exercises and problems that appear in the book originate from Mathematical Olympiad contests around the world. The material is divided into four chapters. In Chapter 1 algebraic inequalities are presented, starting with the basic ones and ending with more sophisticated techniques; Chapter 2 deals with geometric inequalities and Chapter 3 comprises a comprehensive list of recent problems that appeared in those contests during the last 14 years. Finally, hints and solutions to all exercises and problems are given in Chapter 4.
