The New Yorker is an American magazine that publishes reportage, commentary, criticism, essays, fiction, satire, cartoons, and poetry. Starting as a weekly in the mid-1920s, the magazine is now published 47 times per year, with five (usually more expansive) issues for the remaining two-week spans.

The Encyclopedia of Social Problems offers an interdisciplinary perspective into many social issues that are a continuing concern in our lives, whether we confront them on a personal, local, regional, national, or global level. With more than 600 entries, these two volumes cover all of the major theories, approaches, and contemporary issues in social problems and also provide insight into how social conditions get defined as social problems, and the ways different people and organizations view and try to solve them.
The author explains to the listener how to keep himself/herself calm when provoked by an angry party and how to sidestep angry reactions, such as sarcasm and personal attacks, and focus on the issues at hand. Staver also discusses what to do immediately when hostility flares up.
