Работа построена главным образом на общественно-политической литературе, и прежде всего, на газетном материале, хотя широко используется и художественная литература, -- преимущественно в разрешении стилистических проблем.
Global Trends in Language Learning in the 21st Century
The author has analysed recent research in order to identify current and emerging trends in language education and has concluded that the focus on language education in the twenty-first century is no longer on grammar, memorization and learning from rote, but rather using language and cultural knowledge as a means to communicate and connect to others around the globe.

The reader is then introduced to the symbols used in the description and classification of speech sounds and shown how the latter are organized into patterns describable in terms of phonemens and other abstract concepts. These dependencies are subject to conditions that prima facie show substantial crosslinguistic variation.
