Expanding Tactics for Listening is the third level of the Tactics for Listening series. It is intended for intermediate students who have studied English previously but need further practice in understanding everyday conversational language. It contains 24 units. It can be used as the main text for a listening course, as a complementary text in a conversation course, or as the basis for a language laboratory course. Each unit features a topic that relates to the everyday life and experiences of adults and young adults.

"Ways of Thinking, Ways of Teaching" presents a model of teacher thinking and action - one that explains teacher decisions about what and how to teach. Combining qualitative and quantitative data drawn from observations and interviews with urban teachers of writing, George Hillocks argues that teacher knowledge is not simply transferred from some source to the teacher.
One of the most common methods of data collection in second language research is using questionnaires of various kinds. In spite of the wide application of questionnaires in the second language field, there does not seem to be sufficient awareness in the profession about the theory of questionnaire design and processing. The usual--and in most cases false--perception is that anybody with a bit of common sense can design good questionnaires, and the practice of questionnaire design and use has remained largely uninformed by theory.
