This is the series in which children are encouraged to ask questions about what different materials are like, formulate ideas about how a material might behave, and test out these ideas for themselves.

It features colour photographs of children involved in activities to make them more accessible. The content supports schemes of work for science at Key Stage 1, and there are pages of notes for parents and teachers with information about scientific principles. There is an index of key words and ideas.
