*And Then There Were None - Ten people receive mysterious invitations to a grand house on an island off the south coast of England. Their host has not arrived, but a mysterious voice on a gramophone record accuses each of them in turn - all have committed murder. One by one they die, until there are none...
When historian Charles Weiner found pages of Nobel Prize-winning physicist Richard Feynman's notes, he saw it as a "record" of Feynman's work. Feynman himself, however, insisted that the notes were not a record but the work itself. In Supersizing the Mind, Andy Clark argues that our thinking doesn't happen only in our heads but that "certain forms of human cognizing include inextricable tangles of feedback, feed-forward and feed-around loops: loops that promiscuously criss-cross the boundaries of brain, body and world."
Here's an interesting children's record talking about all aspects of time. It starts simply talking about the minute hand and the hour hand of the clock, then getting into days of the week and months of the year. By the time it's all said and done, they even get into Greenwich Mean Time and the International Date Line! Pretty heady stuff for a kid's record, don't you think?

Let's Subtract - Mary Hurt and the Sing and Learn Chorus
To the boys and girls who will use this record:
Arithmetic is one of the most important subjects you will ever study. Wherever you may live, whatever you may do, you can be sure that arithmetic has something to do with it. When we learn our addition, subtraction, multiplication and division tables, we are preparing ourselves for not only our studies in higher grades, but for a busy, grown-up life. I have been teaching boys and girls like yourself by the very same method on this record, and this is the way we do it: First we go over our tables completely. Then we listen carefully to them once more, and finally test ourselves. In this manner, we have been able to learn our tables very quickly. I hope you will enjoy studying your tables in this new way. Practice faithfully every day, and you will see how soon it will be before you know them all.
Learning is fun!
