The Clouds Beneath the Sun - Mackenzie Ford
An exotic setting and a passionate, forbidden affair make The Clouds Beneath the Sun an irresistible page-turner that is sure to satisfy readers looking for an intelligent blend of history, romance, and intrigue.
For a start, it is very deliberately a post-9/11 thriller, in which a man bereaved by the loss of his wife and children in the Twin Towers sets out to wreak what he thinks of as a sacrificial vengeance on the city by becoming a serial terrorist himself. For another, Block, who wrote some pornography early in his career, has created a female character whose kinky sex antics will definitely ruffle some of his mainstream readers. Block's intimate knowledge of New York and its folkways--and of urban character and conversation--has always been one of his great strengths and is on plentiful show again here.

The Emperor's Code is the eighth book in The 39 Clues series. This book is written by Gordon Korman. On March 2, 2010 the cover was revealed to show a red mask with codes printed in certain areas over a purple background. After this release, readers were asked to find three out of the four codes printed on the mask, and, if they were successful, 39 Clues fans could read an excerpt from The Emperor's Code.
