The Black Prince (1973)
A story about being in love The Black Prince is also a remarkable intellectual thriller with a superbly involuted plot, and a meditation on the nature of art and love and the deity who rules over both. Bradley Pearson, its narrator and hero, is an elderly writer with a 'block'. Encompassed by predatory friends and relations - his ex-wife, her delinquent brother and a younger, deplorably successful writer, Arnold Baffin, together with Baffin's restless wife and youthful daughter - Bradley attempts escape. His failure and its aftermath lead to a violent climax; and to a coda which casts a shifting perspective on all that has gone before.

A Prince of Cornwall
With regard to the topography of the Wessex frontier involved, although it practically explains itself in the course of the story, it may be as well to remind a reader that West Wales was the last British kingdom south of the Severn Sea, the name being, of course, given by Wessex man to distinguish it from the Welsh principalities in what we now call Wales, to their north. "Prince of Cornwall" takes place around 690-710 AD, and deals much with the relations between Welsh and Saxons, feat. some resident Danes in the country.
What a wonderful, exciting adventure they have—Nora, Mike, Peggy and Jack—on their summer holidays. They go to Prince Paul's magnificent castle at Killimooin, high up in the mountains of Baronia. Little do they suspect that these mountains hold a dangerous band of robbers who are intent on capturing them and Prince Paul!
What excitement for Mike, Jack, Nora and Peggy when they discover the secret caves and passages of Spiggy Holes! And when they find out that a kidnapped prince is being held captive in the old house above the caves, they're in the grips of another adventure! The boys attempt to free the prince in the dead of the night—but Mike is caught and he, too, is taken prisoner...
A prince has disappeared and it seems that twin babies are the only clue! Is the prince being held against his will? The Five Find-Outers and Mr Goon's nephew, Ern, intend to track him down and rescue him.
