Foundations of Language - Brain, Meaning, Grammar, EvolutionFoundations of Language - Brain, Meaning, Grammar, Evolution

"Few books really deserve the cliche 'this should be read by every researcher in the field,'" writes Steven Pinker, author of The Language Instinct , "But Ray Jackendoff's Foundations of Language does."

Linguistik Aktuell/Linguistics Today (LA) provides a platform for original monograph studies into synchronic and diachronic linguistics.  This "New Toeic" book (SB) is organized by themes (retailing, industry, leisure, money, environment, health). Each theme is included in a unit which reviews all the skills (listening, reading, grammar, vocabulary) and strategies that students need to master for great scores. There are 12 units, 4 review tests, and one full-length test. There is enough material to even prep the Toeic Speaking Test and the Toeic Writing Test, two independent tests that are sometime required by employers.

Chomsky's Universal Grammar: An Introduction (Paperback)Chomsky's Universal Grammar: An Introduction (Paperback)

“Cook and Newson’s book is a theoretically sound and didactically well-designed overview and analysis. It will be an excellent textbook for any course on the sources and concerns of current syntactic developments, especially because it does not shy away from discussing problematic points and alternative solutions.”
