Advanced Calculus: An Introduction to Linear AnalysisAdvanced Calculus: An Introduction to Linear Analysis

Features an introduction to advanced calculus and highlights its inherent concepts from linear algebra
Advanced Calculus reflects the unifying role of linear algebra in an effort to smooth readers' transition to advanced mathematics. The book fosters the development of complete theorem-proving skills through abundant exercises while also promoting a sound approach to the study. The traditional theorems of elementary differential and integral calculus are rigorously established, presenting the foundations of calculus in a way that reorients thinking toward modern analysis.

Noncommutative Functional Calculus: Theory and Applications of Slice Hyperholomorphic Functions (2011)Noncommutative Functional Calculus: Theory and Applications of Slice Hyperholomorphic Functions (2011)

This book presents a functional calculus for n-tuples of not necessarily commuting linear operators. In particular, a functional calculus for quaternionic linear operators is developed. These calculi are based on a new theory of hyperholomorphicity for functions with values in a Clifford algebra: the so-called slice monogenic functions which are carefully described in the book. In the case of functions with values in the algebra of quaternions these functions are named slice regular functions.

Young Mathematicians at Work: Constructing AlgebraYoung Mathematicians at Work: Constructing Algebra

In Constructing Algebra Catherine and Bill provide a landscape of learning that helps teachers recognize, support, and celebrate their students' capacity to structure their worlds algebraically. They identify for teachers the models, contexts, and landmarks that facilitate algebraic thinking in young students. This volume will be a welcome resource for classroom teachers, math supervisors, and curriculum coordinators alike. Preparing young children for success in algebra is a crucial topic. Constructing Algebra provides the insightful and practical methods from the most trusted source for teaching mathematics to young students from Kindergarten through grade 8.

Special Set Linear Algebra and Special Set Fuzzy Linear AlgebraSpecial Set Linear Algebra and Special Set Fuzzy Linear Algebra

Special Set Linear Algebras introduced by the authors in this book is an extension of Set Linear Algebras, which are the most generalized form of linear algebras. These structures can be applied to multi-expert models. The dominance of computers in everyday life calls for a paradigm shift in the concepts of linear algebras. The authors belief that special set linear algebra will cater to that need.

Advances in Ring TheoryAdvances in Ring Theory

This volume consists of refereed research and expository articles by both plenary and other speakers at the International Conference on Algebra and Applications held at Ohio University in June 2008, to honor S.K. Jain on his 70th birthday. The articles are on a wide variety of areas in classical ring theory and module theory, such as rings satisfying polynomial identities, rings of quotients, group rings, homological algebra, injectivity and its generalizations, etc. Included are also applications of ring theory to problems in coding theory and in linear algebra.
