Madeleine Wickham (Sophie Kinsella) - The Wedding GirlAt the age of 18, in that first golden Oxford summer, Milly was up for anything. Rupert and his American lover, Allan, were an important part of her new, exciting life, so when Rupert suggested to her that she and Allan should get married to keep Allan in the country, Milly didn't hesitate. Ten years later, Milly is a very different person and engaged to Simon - who is wealthy, serious, and believes her to be perfect.
The cover is wonderful- Rupert is on top of an outcrop rock in a Welsh looking Snowdonia like scene. In his hand he is clutching the straps of a camera in a case. Dinky the Cat is to his left and Algy Pug and a rabbit look on. When you open the book out and look at the back cover together with the front you get the full beauty of the scene and the wonderful composition that was the genius of Alfred Bestall who's signature is written on the foot extreme left. Bill Badger and Edward Trunk are climbing after him and on a further rock sits Tom Pied Piper's son together with Margaret the little girl from Robin Down from the story `Rupert and the Distant Music'.
'We must leave for Zenda at once, to find the King!' cried Sapt. 'If we're caught, we'll all be killed!'
So Rudolf Rassendyll and Sapt gallop through the night to find the King of Ruritania. But the King is now a prisoner in the Castle of Zenda. Who will rescue him from his enemies, the dangerous Duke Michael and Rupert of Hentzau?
And who will win the heart of the beautiful Princess Flavia?
