Commutative Algebras of Toeplitz Operators on the Bergman SpaceCommutative Algebras of Toeplitz Operators on the Bergman Space

This book is devoted to the spectral theory of commutative C*-algebras of Toeplitz operators on the Bergman space and its applications. For each such commutative algebra there is a unitary operator which reduces Toeplitz operators from this algebra to certain multiplication operators, thus providing their spectral type representations. This yields a powerful research tool giving direct access to the majority of the important properties of the Toeplitz operators studied herein.

Introduction to Coordination ChemistryIntroduction to Coordination Chemistry

Introduction to Coordination examines and explains how metals and molecules that bind as ligands interact, and the consequences of this assembly process. This book describes the chemical and physical properties and behavior of the complex assemblies that form, and applications that may arise as a result of these properties. Coordination complexes are an important but often hidden part of our world?even part of us?and what they do is probed in this book. This book distills the essence of this topic for undergraduate students and for research scientists.

Basic Concepts of MathematicsBasic Concepts of Mathematics

This book helps the student complete the transition from purely manipulative to rigorous mathematics. The clear exposition covers many topics that are assumed by later courses but are often not covered with any depth or organization: basic set theory, induction, quantifiers, functions and relations, equivalence relations, properties of the real numbers (including consequences of the completeness axiom), fields, and basic properties of n-dimensional Euclidean spaces.

Matrix Computations and Semiseparable Matrices: Linear Systems (Volume 1)Matrix Computations and Semiseparable Matrices: Linear Systems (Volume 1)

In recent years several new classes of matrices have been discovered and their structure exploited to design fast and accurate algorithms. In this new reference work, Raf Vandebril, Marc Van Barel, and Nicola Mastronardi present the first comprehensive overview of the mathematical and numerical properties of the family's newest member: semiseparable matrices.

Determiners: Universals and variation

This volume brings together recent work on the formal and interpretational properties of determiners across a variety of typologically and geographically unrelated languages. It seeks to answer the core question of modern linguistic theory: Which properties of languages are universal and which are variable? In recent theorizing, much of language variation is argued to stem from differences in the properties of features associated with functional heads. As such, this volume can be viewed as a case study of one such category: the determiner (D).
