The Examkrackers Chemistry Manual provides comprehensive instruction and simulated MCAT practice in the general and organic chemistry topics that are essential for success on the MCAT. The Examkrackers Chemistry Manual prepares students for the newly integrated MCAT, by highlighting connections between chemical and biological processes. This manual will further your success on both the “Chemical and Physical Foundations of Biological Systems” and the “Biological and Biochemical Foundations of Living Systems” sections on the MCAT.
Dependency is a fundamental concept in the analysis of linguistic systems. The many if-then statements offered in typology and grammar-writing imply a causally real notion of dependency that is central to the claim being made—usually with reference to widely varying timescales and types of processes. But despite the importance of the concept of dependency in our work, its nature is seldom defined or made explicit.
This volume is a state-of-the-art survey of research on the languages of South Asia, with contributions by well-known experts. It covers the languages, their histories and classification; contact and convergence; phonetics/phonology, morphology, and syntax; sociolinguistics; indigenous grammatical traditions; applications of modern technology to South Asian languages; and South Asian writing systems. An appendix lists major sources and resources.
In writing this book, I had several different purposes in mind. First, it is a textbook for students beginning graduate work in computer science or linguistics. It includes detailed technical material and exercises designed to help the student master a body of concepts and techniques. Second, it is a practical guide for people who are building computer systems that deal with natural language. It is not structured as a 'how-to' book, but it describes the relevant techniques in detail and includes an extensive outline of English grammar, which should be useful in both the design and testing of systems.
