In Venetian glassmaking, slender rods of molten glass are shaped, then cut to reveal amazingly detailed patterns: flowers, geometric shapes, dancing colors. These slices are called millefiori, “thousand flowers”, because they form a carpet of flowers when placed side by side. Now celebrity author Donna Kato shows crafters exactly how to re-create these intricate, fascinating designs in polymer clay. The Art of Polymer Clay Millefiori Techniques reveals the entire process: how to work with the polymer clay, the basics of planning and creating a cane, and using color effectively.

This wonderful instructional guide to painting flowers is featured on the PBS Television Series "The Joy of Painting". The Joy of Painting Flowers is Annette's first book of her own paintings. In it, she shares with you the beauty of floral painting in the same detailed precise manner that you have become so accustomed to in many of her Joy of Painting books. Use this book and allow your own imagination and creativity to create beautiful floral paintings of your own!
This book has some of the worst looking, sloppily beaded flowers I have ever seen. Several of the patterns don't have any resemblance whatsoever to the actual flowers being referenced. The whole book seems geared to the level of a 10 year old. That being said, there were some really good (actual size) diagrams for leaves and flower parts. Except for the fact that the classic French technique was totally co-opted and dumbed down, it managed to hold my attention for quite a while.
