New Orleans SketchesNew Orleans SketchesIn 1925 William Faulkner began his professional writing career in earnest while living in the French Quarter of New Orleans. He had published a volume of poetry (The Marble Faun), had written a few book reviews, and had contributed sketches to the University of Mississippi student newspaper. He had served a stint in the Royal Canadian Air Corps and while working in a New Haven bookstore had become acquainted with the wife of the writer Sherwood Anderson.

Michael A. Palmer - Lee Moves North: Robert E. Lee on the OffensiveLee Moves North reveals how the general's penchant for secrecy about his plans—a prerequisite for the political battle he waged with his superiors in Richmond—undermined the Army of Northern Virginia. Keeping his true intentions hidden from President Jefferson Davis and Secretary of War James Seddon meant also keeping the plans secret from even the army's trusted corps commanders. As a result, inadequate support, poor or nonexistent staff work, and confusion about campaign objectives all contributed to failure.

Three Teaching English manuals from Peace Corps
TEFL/TESL: Teaching English as a Foreign or Second Language

This publication was designed for use by Peace Corps Volunteers with no previous teaching experience. It combines general teaching practices with specific language teaching techniques, and outlines and assesses each of the major, commonly used approaches to language instruction. Sessions cover techniques for teaching grammar and the four basic language skills (speaking, listening, reading, and writing), including lesson planning and testing.
Teaching English as a Foreign Language to Large Multilevel Classes
This manual draws on suggestions from Volunteers working under difficult conditions with limited resources. It offers ideas and activities to help teachers deal with very large classes or a lack of textbooks. It also addresses such issues as student interests and needs, classroom management, theme-based lesson planning, the national curricula, and resistance to group work. It aids Volunteers in creating classrooms where students are given opportunities to think critically, work cooperatively, and enjoy the experience of learning.
Volunteer On-Going Language Learning Manual
People learn languages at different rates and in different ways. This book can help individuals develop strategies for increasing their language competency, discover how they learn best, and continue self-directed language learning after formal training.

Все три книги будут хорошим подспорьем для начинающих преподавателей английского языка. Книги выложены в свободный доступ на сайте Peace Corps.
All three manuals were available for free download at from Peace Corps website (not any more), now new download links were added.
