The Course Book contains step-by-step activities written by EAP professionals at the University of Reading’s International Study and Language Centre. The activities are designed for use with authentic reading texts in the accompanying EAS: Reading & Writing Source Book. EAS: Reading is based on an extensive review of recent research into EAP writing methodology, and reflects the most recent developments in language teaching for academic purposes.
Introduction to Academic Writing, Third Edition, is an intermediate writing textbook/ workbook for English language learners in academic settings. Tt teaches rhetoric and sentence structure in a straightforward manner, using a step-by-step approach, high-interest models, and varied practices. Students are guided through the writing process to produce well-organized, adequately developed paragraphs and essays. Explanations are simple, and numerous practices help students assimilate each skill.

English for academic study: Speaking is designed to help students develop the speaking skills they need to participate effectively in academic seminars and discussions, as well as to help them develop effective presentation skills. Each of the ten units is based on one of the topics listed below; the discussions and presentations that the students take part in during the course are related to the topic of each unit. The written and listening texts are designed to give the students different perspectives on the topics and provide evidence to support their ideas, one of the essential features of academic life.
