The book's title is intended to indicate both breadth and limitations: it will probably not be very useful to most physicists or chemists, but it is intended to be appropriate for non-specialists in the area of representation theory, such as those whose primary interest is topology, combinatorics or number theory.

The Inspector General

The Government Inspector, also known as The Inspector General (Russian: Ревизор or Revizor or in German Der Revisor), is a satirical play by the Russophone Ukrainian playwright and novelist Nikolai Gogol. Originally published in 1836, the play was revised for an 1842 edition. Based upon an anecdote allegedly recounted to Gogol by Pushkin, the play is a comedy of errors, satirizing human greed, stupidity, and the extensive political corruption of Imperial Russia.

Les Miserables

Les Misérables (literally "The Miserable Ones"; usually pronounced; French pronunciation: [le mizerabl(e)]), translated variously from the French as The Miserable Ones, The Wretched, The Poor Ones, The Wretched Poor, or The Victims , is an 1862 French novel by author Victor Hugo and is widely considered one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. It follows the lives and interactions of several French characters over a twenty-year period in the early 19th century, starting in 1815 and culminating in the 1832 June Rebellion.

Contemporary Mathematics: Categories in Computer Science and Logic

Category theory has had important uses in logic since the invention of topos theory in the early 1960s, and logic has always been an important component of theoretical computer science. A new development has been the increase in direct interactions between category theory and computer science. In June 1987, an AMS-IMS-SIAM Summer Research Conference on Categories in Computer Science and Logic was held at the University of Colorado in Boulder.

Twice-Told Tales

Twice-Told Tales is a short story collection in two volumes by Nathaniel Hawthorne. The first was published in the spring of 1837, and the second in 1842. The stories had all been previously published in magazines and annuals, hence the name.
