 This book contains an adapted text of the popular novel "The Woman in White" (1865) by the outstanding English writer Wilkie Collins (1824-1889), one of the founders of the detective genre.
    The events take place in the 19th century. in England next to Esquire Fairley's estate on the outskirts of London, where Walter Garthright got a place as a drawing teacher. He not only managed to solve the crime of Percival Glide, committed for the sake of money, but also to save his beloved and put an end to the story of the mysterious woman in white.
    The text is accompanied by a system of exercises, the purpose of which is to check understanding of the text, practice and consolidate vocabulary and grammatical constructions, promote the development of speaking skills and creative abilities in children. The exercises were developed taking into account the modern requirements of the methodology of teaching foreign languages. An English-Ukrainian dictionary is added to the book.
    It is intended for students of senior classes of general and specialized schools, gymnasiums, lyceums, as well as a wide range of readers who study English independently.
