Pre-decodable books are ideal for practicing high-frequency words in connected text, teaching students how books work, and giving students a sense of what reading is. They can also be highly motivating for early readers. Why are pre-decodable books important? Pre-decodable books are used to develop word automaticity with taught high-frequency words and to practice fluency. They are also excellent instructional tools for practicing book handling and developing concepts of print.
