The year of 2006-2007 issue contains a myth or legend well-known in one of the five countries: Ireland. England, the USA. South Africa and Australia. Legends, folk stories and myths are important to the understanding of a culture, and we hope you'll enjoy those we have chosen to represent each of these countries. We enjoyed researching the articles for you, and we hope we have chosen great poets from each country for the Literature section whose works represent the myths and legends. In this issue, read about Hiawatha, the native American Chief and unifier of his people. And we bring you a bit of the great American poet Henry Wadsworth Longfellow's poem entitled Hiawatha. Of course there is lots of fun in this issue, too. There's a piece about Kirsten Dunst, the American actress who began her career as a very young child-starring with Tom Cruise! And we Focus on which foreign (non-English) languages British and American students study as a second language, just as you study their language. There's lots more – and we leave you to discover it for yourselves as you turn the pages.
