Investigations of the Syntax-Semantics-Pragmatics InterfaceInvestigations of the Syntax-Semantics-Pragmatics Interface

Investigations of the Syntax-Semantics-Pragmatics Interface presents on-going research in Role and Reference Grammar in a number of critical areas of linguistic theory: verb semantics and argument structure, the nature of syntactic categories and syntactic representation, prosody and syntax, information structure and syntax, and the syntax and semantics of complex sentences. In each of these areas there are important results which not only advance the development of the theory, but also contribute to the broader theoretical discussion.

About the Speaker: Towards a Syntax of IndexicalityAbout the Speaker: Towards a Syntax of Indexicality

This book considers the semantic and syntactic nature of indexicals - linguistic exions, as in I, you, this, that, yesterday, tomorrow, whose reference shifts from utterance to utterance. There is a long-standing controversy as to whether the semantic reference point is already present as syntactic material or whether it is introduced post-syntactically by semantic rules of interpretation.

Core Syntax: A Minimalist Approach

This is an introduction to the structure of sentences in human languages. It assumes no prior knowledge of linguistic theory and little of elementary grammar. It will suit students coming to syntactic theory for the first time either as graduates or undergraduates. It will also be useful for those in fields such as computational science, artificial intelligence, or cognitive psychology who need a sound knowledge of current syntactic theory.

An Introduction to SyntaxAn Introduction to Syntax

Clearly organized and accessible, this comprehensive new textbook provides students with a thorough grounding in the analysis of syntactic structure. The book guides students through the basic concepts involved in syntactic analysis and goes on to prepare them for further work in any syntactic theory, using examples from a range of phenomena in human languages. It also includes a chapter on theories of syntax. Each chapter includes generous exercises and recommendations for further study.

Approaches to Bootstrapping- Phonological, lexical, syntactic and neurophysiological aspects of early language acquisition -Volume 1
Volume 1 of Approaches to Bootstrapping focuses on early word learning and syntactic development with special emphasis on the bootstrapping mechanisms by which the child using properties of the speech input enters the native linguistic system.
