Using this dictionary
the words featured in this dictionary have been chosen because they can be difficult to spell. Since there is a limit to the total number of words that can be included, only words most likely to be used by the general reader or writer are given. Very few proper nouns appear and foreign terms are included only if they are in common usage. Thus, you will find words such as "chauffeur" and "debut", but not "hors combat" or "gite". A few common slang words have also been given.

Friedrich Nietzsche (Giants of Philosophy)Friedrich Nietzsche
(1844-1900)
Germany
Narrated by Charlton Heston
Nietzsche condemned nearly all of the religious and philosophical thought of his day to blunt terms (e.g., God is dead). He says the only reality is this world of life and death, conflict and change, creation and destruction. For centuries, religious ideas have given meaning to life in the western world; but as they now collapse, humanity faces a grave crisis of nihilism and despair.

Mercantilism Reimagined: Political Economy in Early Modern Britain and Its EmpireRethinking Mercantilism brings together a group of young early modern British and European historians to investigate what use the concept "mercantilism" might still hold for both scholars and teachers of the period. While scholars often find the term unsatisfactory, mercantilism has stubbornly survived both in our classrooms and in the general scholarly discourse. These essays propose that it is largely impossible to rethink "mercantilism," given its unique status as a non-entity, by looking for "mercantilism" itself.
