In Murder on the Reservation, Ray B. Browne surveys the work of several of the best-known writers of crime fiction involving Indian characters and references virtually every book that qualifies as an Indian-related mystery. Browne believes that within the genre of crime fiction all people are equal, and the increasing role of Indian characters in criminal fiction proves what an important role this genre plays as a powerful democratizing force in American society.

Ubik
Written in 1969, Ubik is a futuristic science-fiction novel that transcends genre fiction. Dick's novel is dense with literary substance which has been integrated into a comprehensive universe of his own imagining. The novel takes place in 1992, in a world where nearly every convenience (even the opening of doors) costs money. In this society, the dead and the living interact with one another.Ubik integrates a series of themes – on the surface it is a light sci-fi read; by the first chapter, however, the book is infused, although not laden, with important themes and "literary significance."
This is a 6 level series of readers for children learning English, bringing together a variety of enjoyable fiction and non-fiction titles. The series provides reinforcement of the basic structures and vocabulary contained in most major primary courses. Activities and a picture dictionary or wordlist at the back of each reader.
