Entry 1 Teacher's Book and Audio: Skills for Life ESOL

Entry 1 Teacher's Book and Audio: Skills for Life ESOLEntry 1 Skills for Life ESOL Teacher's Book is the FIRST level in a series of five for new arrivals in the UK wishing to study English.  (Note: do not be confused by the illogical naming of the level by the DfES!)
It is an adult course that takes students from beginner/starter level to a point equivalent to a GCSE in English.
The course is designed to help new arrivals in the UK learn communicative English as quickly as possible.  I focusses on real life scenarios for those living in the UK.  It thus contains a lot of material and subjects not normally covered in general English coursebooks.

She was tall and beautiful, with red-gold hair. Many men loved her and died for her. But she also had many enemies - men who said: 'The death of Mary is the life of Elizabeth.'

Shakespeare: Comedies, Histories, and Tragedies introduces the plays of Shakespeare and explains the achievement that makes Shakespeare the leading playwright in Western civilization. The key to that achievement is his abundance, says Professor Saccio not only in the number and length of his plays, but also in the variety of experiences they depict, the multitude of actions and characters they contain, the combination of public and private life they deal with, the richness of feelings they express and can provoke in an audience and in readers, and the fullness of language and suggestion.
