Shadow of the Torturer

Shadow of the Torturer This is one of the great overlooked Fantasy/Sci-fi adventures of all time. And to be honest, I hate even putting it into a genre category; it's just a damn good read. After having read tons of sci-fi/fanasy in my youth, I had reached a point where I was embarrassed to read any more of the stuff; almost all of it was trite, Tolkien- or Arthur C. Private LifePrivate Life

It's set in the years 1883-1942 and is basically about a woman who marries late in life (27, old at that time). she finally meets and marries a man who on paper, seems to be a good match. But she finds that he's more interested in his work than her and she's just as lonely as she was before they married.
I don't want to give too much away but this is a great historical fiction book by a talented author. The main character seems never to get a break as one tragedy after another seem to follow her from beginning to end. Definitely one of those books that left me wanting more.

JACI'S EXPERIMENT is a testimony to her ability to formulate, plot, and invariably write some of the most risque but sweetest menages I have ever read. Mike and Dave love Jaci - that is apparent. Their ability to invade her dreams made me blush more than once, but luckily enough I was able to continue to read because I couldn't put JACI'S EXPERIEMENT down. Jaci's characterization is perfect for this storyline.

I was in New York and read a review of the book in the Village Voice. At the Atlanta airport I decided to buy the book on my Kindle and started reading it. Within minutes I was sitting in the airport and was laughing so loud that I must've looked nuts. Bottom line: if you are kind of feeling a little bitter about life right now - and who isn't with this economy - you need to read this book. It's as acidic and dirty as they come, but you're guaranteed to laugh!
