The royal Raven
Every time Crawford caught sight of his ordinary raven's feathers, he wished he looked differently. From the minute he pops out of the egg, Crawford wants to be special. The raven finally gets his wish when an old woman transforms him into a spectacular creature with dazzling feathers. He has a brief spell of glory as the chained fancy of a princess, but all too soon is relegated to a golden cage in an obscure part of the garden. He then pines only for freedom, which he achieves by plucking out his shiny feathers so that the princess, horrified by his ugliness, banishes him. He returns to his friends a wiser bird.

The Big Boasting Battle
This is a very cute book about a lion and a snake whoa re competing to see who is the smartest and strongest of the kingdom. Horace the lion and Sylvester the snake Boast about all the ways they are better than the other. Until they get into trouble and they have to work together to get free. I would use this book for grades K-3. It would be a great introductory lesson on how we are all different but special in our own way.

Ten Little Bunnies
Rhyming text describes how various mishaps reduce ten little bunnies down to one. The tale begins with 10 plump, stuffed-animal-like rabbits; each wears or carries a distinguishing item, e.g., a necklace or skates. Individuals or not, nine of these rodents are thoroughly foolhardy, and as they heedlessly hop along, they vanish one by one. The first falls off a wall, another is carried off by a witch, yet another fatally interrupts a bear. The last bunny waves a wand and magically resurrects his nine friends.
