The European Language Portfolio: ELT News

The ELP has two functions:
• Reporting: It displays the owners capabilities, but in relation to foreign languages. Its purpose is to present additional information about
the owner’s experience and concrete evidence of his 01 her foreign language achievements.
• Pedagogical: The ELP is also intended to be used as a means of making the language learning process more transparent to learners, helping them to develop their capacity for reflection and selfassessment.

ELPortfolio

In 2001, the European Year of Languages, the ELP has been launched throughout Europe. A number of guides and studies were commissioned in order
to provide enough information and guidance to develop and implement ELPs successfully in various contexts.
