De Niro: A Life

This is one of those books that absolutely must be read by anyone remotely interested in the biographical life of a major movie star. It was the first time I have read anything by Shawn Levy and I believe he is one of the best at his genre working today. The book, an unauthorized biography, is almost six hundred pages long and gives the reader not only the complete run of pictures of De Niro but also gives a fair amount of information regarding his three wives, children, and the many work projects around New York and many other locations for which he has an interest.

If you have any interest in De Niro from his films to run-ins with the media; from his major work on hotel deals and the major awards given and received; to his almost unexplainable venture into advertising and his love for his family this is the book for you. Not only have I discovered a truly great writer on De Niro but have ordered his book on Paul Newman which I suspect will be as good. I don't make much noise for writers as a rule but this is a highly readable writer that will give you a real pull for your money.
