Knowledge, Evolution, and Paradox: The Ontology of Language

The challenge of this work is that of trying to understand the fundamental unity and diversity of everythingincluding ourselvesthat exists and continues to emerge within an evolutionary framework. That framework is not intrinsically or exclusively biological in nature. Biology, as I will argue throughout this book, is part of a more general ontological framework that, by definition of ontology, embraces every single discipline and that is explicitly interdisciplinary in nature. Biology, of course, is the discipline par excellence where one can find well-defined and elaborated models of evolution, including a good amount of established and more or less commonly known terminology. Biological evolution could therefore be thought of as a metaphor describing the totality of the world in terms of a general structure of relations among parts of the world that are themselves studied by more specific disciplines.
