This CD is intended to stimulate teachers' creativity by offering you the resources you need to create your own classroom materials.
The resources on the CD include:
Colour and black and white images from Jolly Phonics' bank of pictures which you can use to make flashcards, worksheets, etc.
a word bank and dictation sentences for use in compiling new material for literacy lessons.
examples of activities which you can do to teach children to read and write and blank templates which you can adapt for your own versions of the activities.
letters and sheets for practising the formation of letters.
Ten of the templates given are specifically designed for use by speech therapists who may be working on particular sounds or combinations of sounds. They tend to use the sound cards along with the letters rather than the letters which are used on the templates designed for whole class use.

Installation
When you open the Jolly Phonics Resources CD, you will see a menu which has both a ‘Precursive’ and a ‘Print’ folder. They are identical, except for the font. Choose the font used in your school. Typically schools in the UK use the precursive font while schools in the US and Canada mostly use print letters. Schools in other countries typically use one or the other. Precursive has the advantage that it more readily leads children into joined-up cursive writing.
Besides a large library of named images, this CD also has a bank of ‘activity templates’ which you can use to create materials. (These templates are repeated in the precursive and print folders). The guidance below will help in using these templates with common software available. Note that differing versions of the software, and different computer specifications may mean that this guidance does not work in every instance. Note also that the templates have been provided in A4 (210mm x 297mm) though key full page templates have also been provided in US size (8.5” x 11”, or 216mm x 279mm).
