The book I read was Congo by Michael Crichton. It is 315 pages long and a science fiction genre. A group of Geologists are sent to Congo to investigate the lost City of Zinji. They go to bed one night with a porter out watching. The next morning the porter checks on them only to find them dead with their skulls crushed. He then is attacked by something and has his own skull crushed. Back in Houston, the people monitoring the expedition hear they are dead and want to find out how. They realize the satellite video is running and something is on it. They zoom in on its face and see it is a gorilla. They decide they have to send another group in to find out what happened to the group, and get what they were trying to get, the diamonds in the lost city. This is just what happens in the first 70 pages of this less interesting thriller by Michael Crichton. I would give this book 8 out of ten, but barely an 8. The only thing that brought it up from a 6 to a ten was the ending (Cant tell you!). I gave the book a rating of 8 because the last 100 pages of the book are outstanding; probably the best thing Ive ever read in my whole life. But the rest of the book isnt that good. It starts out really slow, than takes forever to get going. It also doesnt make any sense in the slow start. At one point theyre talking about diamonds, and then they go into a flashback all of a sudden. Then when they supposedly leave the flashback, I couldnt tell. If I could change the book, than I would change the slow beginning and make it start faster. I would also make sure that the book got to the point very fast and the beginning didnt linger on so much
