Rhinoceros and other Plays
In Rhinoceros, as in his earlier plays, Ionesco startles audiences with a world that invariably erupts in explosive laughter and nightmare anxiety. A rhinoceros suddenly appears in a small town, tramping through its peaceful streets. Soon there are two, then three, until the “movement” is universal: a transformation of average citizens into beasts, as they learn to move with the times. Finally, only one man remains. “I’m the last man left, and I’m staying that way until the end. I’m not capitulating!”
As spring arrives in the far north of Sweden, a young woman's body surfaces through the breaking ice of the River Thorne. At the same time, visions of a shadowy figure haunt the dreams of Rebecka Martinsson, a prosecutor in nearby Karuna. Could the body belong to the ghost in her dreams? And where is the dead girl's boyfriend?
On a warm summer evening, a red double-decker bus speeds down a London street. A few blocks away, a man and a woman climb into a limousine, revelling in a magical evening of dancing and champagne. The couple shares a first searching kiss, and time stands still...until, in a flash of metal and glass, their car is struck at full speed by the bus's tremendous weight.

Saving Max
