Эта книга - сборник увлекательно написанных текстов учебных программ Words and Their Stories, которые выходили на радиостанции The Voice Of America десять лет назад и в настоящее время уже недоступны. В качестве авторов выступила группа американских журналистов (а не профессиональных лингвистов), поэтому рассказ об истории возникновения и значении тех или иных слов и выражений получился не академически сухим, а живым и увлекательным.
