A March On London by G.A. Henty (Children) A March On London
by G.A. Henty
(Rare Book Collection)

Book Description
Unedited, unabridged, original format editions with original colored cover art, these Henty books reproduce the original in careful detail.
The Story of Wat Tyler's Rebellion is but little known, but the hero of this story passes through that perilous time and takes part in the civil war in Flanders which followed soon after. Although young he is thrown into many exciting and dangerous adventures, through which he passes with great coolness and much credit. Brought into royal favor he is knighted for bravery on the battlefield, and saving the lives of some wealthy merchants, he realizes fortune with his advancement and rank. New light is thrown on the history of this time and the whole story is singularly interesting.
The events that took place during the latter half of the fourteenth century and the first half of the fifteenth are known to us far better than those preceding or following them, owing to the fact that three great chroniclers, Froissart, Monstrelet, and Holinshed, have recounted the events with a fulness of detail that leaves nothing to be desired. The uprising of the Commons, as they called themselves - that is to say, chiefly the folk who were still kept in a state of serfdom in the reign of Richard II.

The Rosetta Stone of the Human Mind: Three languages to integrate neurobiology and psychology
The study of the brain-mind complex has been hampered by the dichotomy between objective biological neuroscience and subjective psychological science, based on speculative topographic models and psychodynamics formulations. The two antithetical avenues of research, premises, and dynamic hypotheses, have evolved in a polarization of neuroscience. This is partly responsible for the failure to unravel the transformation of neural events into mental images: how matter becomes imagination, and vice versa. The Rosetta Stone to the Human Mind: Three Languages to Integrate Neurobiology and Psychology illustrates how the simultaneous use of these two approaches enriches the understanding of the neural and mental realms, and adds new dimensions to our perception of neuropsychological events; how the two different scientific metaphors are similar in what they describe; and how the awareness and application of these perspectives are helpful in getting a deeper theoretical grasp on major mental events, better understanding single minds, and formulating a more integrated therapeutic intervention.

The Dynamics of the Breakthrough in Eastern Europe: The Polish Experience (Societies and Culture in East-Central Europe)
Understanding the dramatic political, social, and economic changes that have taken place in Poland in the mid-1980s is one key to predicting the future of the communist bloc. Jadwiga Staniszkis, an influential, internationally known expert on contemporary trends in Eastern Europe, provides an insider's analysis that deserves the attention of all scholars interested in the region.
Staniszkis presents the breakthrough of 1989 as a consequence not only of systemic contradictions within socialism but also of a series of chance events. These events include unique historical circumstances such as the emergence of the "globalist" faction in Mosow, with its new, world-system perception of crisis, and the discovery of the round-table technique as a productive ritual of communication, imitated all over Eastern Europe. After describing the development, collapse, and reorganization of a "new center" in Poland in 1989-1990, she discusses the first attempt at privatizing the economy. Her analysis of the dilemmas accompanying breakthrough and transition is an invaluable guide to the challenges that face both capitalism and democracy in Eastern Europe.

Encyclopedia of Terrorism

Although there is coverage of groups such as the Irish Republican Army and events such as the Munich Olympics massacre, the emphasis of this book is on terrorism in, or against, the U.S. In 300 A-Z entries Kushner, a well-respected researcher in this area, covers terrorist-related events, groups, individuals, methods, activities, and responses. Although he began work on the book a year prior to the events of September 11, 2001, he writes in his introduction that those events made the need for an authoritative reference source on terrorism more urgent, and many of the entries are connected to 9/11.
